Answer: Fixed fee per job Explanation: Most Handymen will charge a fixed rate based on the task. In my experience this is because of how hit or miss most residential homes are in terms of repair. Charging $30/hr to change out baseboards could be incredibly profitable, but only if the task is exceptionally difficult or uncharacteristically large. Charging $6 per lineral foot for basic MDF includes the cost of materials (pin nails/Brad nails, caulking, and baseboard), and the time it takes to measure, cut, and meticulously install. If the handyman is experienced, they might pull a piece of baseboard temporarily to see the condition of the wall behind it, understanding the conditions they're working with, and making reccomendations to the homeowner of what extra services might be required for the job to be done properly.
If the job requires tear-out and a dump run, that will usually be a seperate charge. Enough to cover the cost of dumping and the time to make the run. If the wall was installed too high and there's gaps, the handyman can reccomend a foam filler or insulation option to help seal the area. All of this can be factored into a higher price per linear foot, or a seperate package that includes time and materials. Charging for time might mean the worker slacks off to meet a certain number of hours, a fixed rate means the professional has motivation to get the job done efficiently. |

Wayne's way llc |
Answer: By the hour (plus material cost) Explanation: Handymen can charge in a variety of ways, depending on the job and the handyman's preferences
* Fixed fee per job: This is a set price for the entire project, regardless of how long it takes. This is often used for smaller, well-defined tasks like installing a light fixture or fixing a leaky faucet.
* By the hour (plus material cost): This is when the handyman charges an hourly rate for their labor, and then adds the cost of any materials used to the final bill. This is more common for larger or more complex projects where the time involved is harder to estimate upfront.

Answer: Fixed fee per job Explanation: Handymen typically charge either by the job or by the hour, depending on the type of work and the preferences of the business. A fixed fee per job, as used by Quick Fix Joe, offers customers a clear understanding of the total cost upfront, which can be beneficial for budget planning. This method eliminates surprises regarding additional hours or extended labor costs. It often aligns well with jobs where the scope is clear and predictable, providing both transparency and predictability in billing, which enhances customer satisfaction and trust.

Answer: Fixed fee per job Explanation: I charge per job that will include material cost. Charging by the hour can lead to a higher cost if the installer takes his time to do the repair or install and that cost will be much higher when material still needs to be added. So I'm not a fan of hourly I charge a flat rate for the job including materiel and parts needed to complete the job. It avoids extended hours on job and over charged cost. |

Answer: Not sure Explanation: Each company is different, as is each job. Water damage jobs can be harder to do a fixed price on because some damage can not be seen till you open the wall or floor. If you under bid you can make little or even come out of pocket. If you bid high you could lose the job or make out well. Bidding the job can be a gamble especially for new business just starting out. I like to offer both prices up front and explain the difference to the home owner and let them choose which is best for them. |
